Utilising Off-Peak Renewable Energy for Horticulture
The Green Light Project
The Problem: In 2025, the UK spent an estimated £500 million curtailing wind turbines because the grid couldn't distribute the excess power. Meanwhile, UK growers face high energy costs.
Our Solution: We are trialling industrial Demand-Side Response (DSR). This channels surplus renewable energy into greenhouses to power lighting systems, boosting food production during winter.
The Goal: To create a blueprint that lowers investment barriers, boosts UK food security, and provides a path to Net Zero.
